On November 5, 2020, the upcoming 2020 United States presidential election will take place. Trump is running again for a second term. Would he be good for a second term or should there be a new person in office?

Trump has changed Washington, He’s unlike any president the United States has seen. “Very unique and some similarities to Andrew Jackson.” Says Mike Shatto an AP Government teacher. He has similarities to the 7th President of the U.S. because he as well as Trump has a big backing of poor white Americans. Besides that President Trump’s is very unique to all the President the United States has seen.

“He’s a businessman and also a celebrity not much of a politician.” Continues Shatto. Even though he doesn’t have a political background. He is a Businessman  a successful one. He’s written more legislation than Obama on his first term as president. Even with the increase in GDP around 4 percent and a decrease in unemployment, During the great recession of 2008 that had an unemployment of 9.4%. We needed to get out of this recession to rebuild. That was a pretty big talk for the 2016 elections. When Trump got elected we saw a decrease in unemployment that dropped down to 2.0%. Although, Trump didn’t cause this all by himself. What he did was continue/assist Job and economic growth in America. Which is still something to not look past, he helped with jobs and the economy.

With the trade war and tariffs on China. Vincent Silva an AP Econ teacher states that “China is waiting it out.” What this means is that China is waiting for a new U.S. president to take office in hopes for ending the tariffs. Also when trump is out of office, Shatto believes that Trump’s legislations would be halted when a new president takes office because the tariffs have had no increase or decrease in the economy. Although, there has been some people negatively affected by this, happens to be American farmers, especially the soybean farmers and those that have business with China. The reason for little to no change in the economy is because of the mass immigration into the U.S. causing more jobs and low wages. With these low wages there is no inflation. With no inflation no need to back out from the tariffs.

Trump has been a very different president, He’s a celebrity and businessman however he’s not your usual politician. We’ve seen a 4% increase in the U.S. GDP we’ve also seen a decrease in unemployment by 7% after the great recession in 2008. This was not just all him thought, he contributed and supported this boom. Immigration actually helped Trump with the Trade War. For how many people have entered the U.S. allowing businesses to hire more people and continue low wages keeps inflation down. Even with immigration helping the tariffs stay a float and not cause inflation forcing him to back out if this happens. He still wants to cut down on immigrants entry into the U.S.
