Amazon Brings Free Shipping For The Holidays

This holiday season, Amazon is offering free shipping. It is the first time in Amazon’s history to do this, and their goal is to gain new Amazon Prime members and increase sales numbers for the season. This promotion started on November 5, 2018 and will be going on for a limited time.

Last year, Amazon shoppers without Prime memberships had to spend at least $25 to earn free shipping, but Amazon is waiving the purchase minimum starting Monday to give ‘customers even more convenient and faster delivery options,’ the company announces,” CNN Business writer Nathaniel Meyersohn said.

Amazon is trying to compete with other big-box stores like Target, Walmart, and Best Buy that are also offering free shipping this holiday season. The delivery window for Amazon during this offer is five to eight days for non-Prime members and two days for Prime members. The competition is between Target and Amazon as for Target’s shipping window is two days for all customers. Amazon is hoping to come in as number one for another year in a row with the most holiday online shoppers.

“This holiday, customers can enjoy free shipping with no minimum purchase amount on orders that will arrive in time for Christmas, including items from Amazon’s expertly curated Gift Guides across electronics, fashion, home and toys,” Amazon’s Senior Vice President of North American Retail Doug Herrington said. “With hundreds of millions of items available for free shipping to all Amazon customers and more than three million items available with Prime free Same-Day Delivery, customers can enjoy the largest selection of items that are fast and free.”
