Dropshipping: the business model with efficiency like no other.

To say the least, it’s revolutionary for this upcoming technological decade. Millions of entrepreneurs pick this business model because the start up cost is so minimal.  Now, no business can be started with the snap of your fingers but what if an aspiring entrepreneur could start a full blown business without having to hold onto any inventory? This is what dropshipping is. The owner finds a dropshipping company (Ex. Aliexpress), which will offer thousands and thousands of products at wholesale price.

So there are lots of products to browse through and choose which ones may fit  your website best. Yes, like any other company a website will be needed! Owners do not have to worry though, as this isn’t difficult. Wix, Shopify, And Woocommerce are three sites that are available to use for website building. Many site builders offer free trials for an extended period of time.

Once an entrepreneur has designed their themed site,  the next step would be connecting these products to their site and finding their niche. Aliexpress allows users to either purchase products directly or connect the product to their site, which gives them a clear advantage. Connecting their wholesaler (Aliexpress) with their site allows them to deal with any inventory or shipping. An owner’s chosen wholesaler will see the orders from their  website and then proceed to ship them out.

At first, they may sound extremely simple. But you have to make sure you are in a niche market; this means selling specific types of products to a target audience and choosing products from your wholesaler that already have and will maintain traction. For example, a potential dropshipper wouldn’t want to buy fidget spinners because that was a trend in 2016-2017. To ensure traction, they should pick products that sell well. One can determine this by using Google Trends to see which products have spikes in certain months of the year and check for highly-rated items with a considerable amount of purchases. For instance, if someone chooses yoga as their niche, they would want to make sure they choose well-selling mats or accessories from the wholesaler and stick strictly to yoga products.

This brings up the question: why isn’t everyone working from home? Remember that business is business and trial and error will play a huge part in a dropshipper’s success. Persistence and dedication are key parts in thriving in such a demanding market, as most will not make thousands picking some random gadget that has no demand. Entrepreneurs should do extensive research, find trending niches and make a marketing plan for social media platforms that their new company will be launched on. With the correct preparation they can make thousands and not touch a single piece of inventory.
