New Self-Defense Class on Campus

San Pasqual High School is offering a new self-defense SOAR class on campus.

San Pasqual High School is offering a new self-defense SOAR class on campus.

Self-defense is important because if students were ever in a dangerous situation, they would be prepared.

Tracey Greer is the SOAR coordinator and a teacher at San Pasqual. Greer also started the new self-defense class here on campus at San Pasqual High School.

“Students will walk away feeling empowered, ” said Greer. 

To put together this SOAR class,the staff partnered with United States of Self-Defense. 

“Being aware of your surroundings and having that knowledge were if something did happen, that they are prepared to handle themselves,” said Greer.

“I think it’s important for everybody to feel safe in their own environment”. “We all fear being in an unsafe situation, so to have some tools to practice getting out of that, I think is extremely important,” said assistant principal Penny Parker.

Students interested in signing up should go to room 318, to ask for a permission slip, by Thursday, Nov. 1. The first fighting fundamentals class is Thursday, Nov. 7. Grabs and Ground Fighting is Thursday, Nov.14. Weapons and the Great Duct Tape Escape is on Thursday, Nov. 21. These classes are going to be located in the San Pasqual High School Dance Room. The classes take place from 1:45 pm to 3:45 pm.
