San Pasqual High School teacher Erika Buendia has started a new club here on campus.

The club will be centered around makeup and fashion design. Buendia not only has experience in cosmetology, but a passion for it. She hopes to get a group of young individuals together who all share a passion for makeup.

Buendia got the idea of starting a beauty club from a close friend who owns a makeup academy and worked with other high schools on starting clubs that are similar.

“I have a friend that owns a makeup academy, and she gave me the idea of starting a beauty and makeup club at this school because she has worked with other high schools and helped them start up those kinds of clubs,” said Buendia.

Buendia modeled for a makeup studio in the past and has carried her passion for makeup with her since she was 16 years old. She also loves to watch makeup tutorials in her free time.

“I’ve modeled in the past for a makeup studio so that’s my current interest,” said Buendia. “I like to watch makeup videos and I’ve been doing my own makeup since I was 16 years old.”

The words that Buendia used to describe cosmetology shows just how passionate and interested she is in the subject, making her the perfect leader to start the club and an example for the club members to follow.

“To describe cosmetology in three words it would be creative, fun and colorful,” said Buendia.

She hopes that by next fall, there will be a new cosmetology club for all the students interested to enjoy and participate in.

“I’m still in the process of trying to put it on for next year,” said Buendia.
